Highlights of coverage
- All policies follow provincial & territorial college minimum requirements.
- Personal and portable professional E&O malpractice liability insurance between any province or territory in Canada.
- All coverage is Occurrence Based with an optional Claims Made coverage (based on prior insurance coverage).
- An Occurrence Based policy covers claims arising from acts/incidents that occurred during the policy period, regardless of when the claim is made.
- A Claims Made policy covers claims made during the active policy period. Coverage must be in place at the time the claim is made.
- This insurance will apply to claims arising from lawsuits in Canada.
- Additional legal expense of $50,000 is provided when called upon to appear before a disciplinary committee.
Pharmacists:
Registered Pharmacist
- $2,000,000 Liability / $4,000,000 Aggregate for a premium of $195
- $5,000,000 Liability / $5,000,000 Aggregate for a premium of $355 – Recommended for Hospital Employees
Graduated Student/Intern
- $2,000,000 Liability / $4,000,000 Aggregate for a premium of $75
- Students and Interns must be working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
Pharmacy Technicians:
Registered Pharmacy Technician
- $2,000,000 Liability / $4,000,000 Aggregate for a premium of $125
- $5,000,000 Liability / $5,000,000 Aggregate for a premium of $175 – Recommended for Hospital Employees
Graduated Student/Intern
- $2,000,000 Liability / $4,000,000 Aggregate for a premium of $75
- Students and Interns must be working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
The definition of “insured services” will also include acting within the scope of the insured’s duties as a pharmacist or pharmacy technician including the provision of opinions and counseling.
